Modern Colorado License Plates

Welcome to my website! On the right (on web) or just below (mobile), you can enter a plate to see if it is from Eagle County. This tool works for any regular car plate with a white background. Truck, motorcycle, etc. plates work sometimes but not reliably. Some older plates from the early 2000s might not work correctly either.
SPECIAL plates like the blackout plate, Pioneers, etc. do not work here. Those are numbered by the state, and are in the same numbering group as other specialties unlike county issued plates.
GREEN plates will not work here; they do not need a fancy tool to be decoded because they are officially county coded. For Eagle, the codes used were YM, YN, and begrudgingly, ZT. Some motorcycles in the 1980s received XX and XY. L5 was the little-known code for designer truck plates before 2000.
Personalized plates do not work because their number is not tied to the county in any way.
If your plate is from Eagle, entered correctly, but the tool believes it is not, please email me at alex@coplates.net . This is an area of active research for me and it would help a lot. Any questions as to hell I know any of this should be directed there, but it generally boils down to me researching this stuff since I was a junior at Battle Mountain.
I often go to garage sales to get plates and add them to my collection. Below is an online display of my collection, also showing the history of license plates issued by Eagle County. They are in chronological order; as you scroll further down, you will see plates which were issued longer and longer ago. Keen eyes will also notice that they are in alphabetical order. Outside of a few exceptions (which I am aware of but haven't bothered to detail here) the county - and state as a whole - generally issue license plates in alphabetical order.
